Good restaurants are becoming easier to find in Baku. Although the usual culinary options are available it would be a shame to leave without trying the local cuisine. Azerbaijani fare has similarities to Turkish food and you can expect to find dishes such as kebabs and stuffed vine leaves on the menu.
Two of the most highly rated establishments for Azerbaijani food are Nan (41 Khagani St, tel 930 355) and Caravanserai (11 Bashennaya St, tel 927 309).
Elsewhere, La Dolce Vita (9 Aziz Aliyev St, tel 927 309) serves excellent Italian food in a welcoming atmosphere.
Steak House (Fountain Square, tel 980 772) is good for an informal meal, not least because it serves Indian dishes as well as its large variety of steaks. Fountain Square is the area to go to if you do not have a specific restaurant in mind as there are plenty of establishments to browse around before finding somewhere to eat.
